Hands On Schools/Hands On Baton Rouge - University Terrace Elementary School - MLK 2008
In honor of MLK Day, Hands On Baton Rouge will be engaging the local community in a revamping of the University Terrace Elementary School.
University Terrace Elementary School is a public school built in 1956 as part if the East Baton Rouge Parish School District. The school is in a unique location in Baton Rouge, adjacent to the LSU campus and part of Old South Baton Rouge neighborhood, a high poverty area between LSU and downtown Baton Rouge.
Many of University Terrace’s most pressing needs are painting and building repairs. In addition to an overall school facelift, University Terrace also needs library improvements, playground improvements, community garden development with an entrepreneurship focus, and teacher’s lounge update.
